Privacy & Cookie Policy

Who runs this site

This site is operated by Niwolu Creations, a small independent crochet maker based in Denmark. For any privacy questions or requests, you can reach me through the links on the About page or via my social channels.

What data we collect

This site is content-only — we do not run advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking at this time. The only personal data processed is:

  • Admin login — if you log in to the admin area, your email and an authentication session cookie are processed by our backend provider so you can manage content. This applies only to the site owner.
  • Cookie preferences — your consent choice is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so we don't ask you again on every visit. It never leaves your device.

Cookies we use

Essential (always on)

  • Session cookies for the admin login area. These are required for the site to function and do not require consent under EU law.
  • A local entry storing your cookie choice so the banner doesn't keep reappearing.

Optional — analytics

If you accept optional cookies, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and patterns are popular. This sets the following cookies in your browser:

  • _ga — distinguishes unique visitors (expires after 2 years)
  • _ga_* — used by Google Analytics 4 to persist session state (expires after 2 years)

Data is processed by Google LLC in the United States under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. IP addresses are anonymised before being stored. Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default and then automatically deleted.

If you reject (or haven't decided), no Google scripts load and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time using the button below. Note: revoking consent stops further tracking on subsequent page loads — to fully unload an already-running session, reload the page after revoking.

Advertising: Currently inactive. If we add Google AdSense in the future, it will be gated by the same consent banner.

Your rights under the GDPR

If we hold any personal data about you, you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Data portability
  • Lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet)

Change your cookie preferences

You can update your cookie choice at any time:

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way (for example, adding analytics or advertising), we'll update the version of the cookie banner so you can review your choice again.
