Stripey hat

I love a good warm hat for cold days. This one is super easy to make and is a cute way to use self-striping yarn. It is a quick crochet project, and there is no sewing involved. So it’s really the perfect casual project.

Materials

Yarn, worsted weight (I used a self-striping one) Crochet hook to match your yarn. Tapestry needle to sew in ends

Terminology

mc - magic circle sl - slip stitch ch - chain tr - triple crochet fptr - front-post triple crochet bptr - back-post triple crochet

Instructions

Start by creating a magic circle.
Round 1 12 tr in mc, sl (12)
Round 2 ch3, 2 tr in each tr around, sl (24)
Round 3 ch3, tr in next tr, 2tr in next tr, repeat around, sl (36)
Round 4 ch3, tr in next 2 tr, 2tr in next tr, repeat around, sl (48)
Round 5 ch3, tr in next 3 tr, 2tr in next tr, repeat around, sl (60)
Round 6 ch3, tr in next 4 tr, 2tr in next tr, repeat around, sl (72)
Round 7 ch3, tr in next 5 tr, 2tr in next tr, repeat around, sl (84)
Round 8 ch3, tr in next 6 tr, 2tr in next tr, repeat around, sl (96)
Rounds 9-13 ch3, tr in each tr around, sl (96)
Rounds 14-21 ch3, fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr repeat - around. Sl in first tr. (96)

Fasten off. Make a pompom to put on top or leave it as is
