Delicious crochet cake
No carbs, all fiber! Make this cute piece of cake for a nice treat.
Materials
Superfine cotton yarn: tan, light pink, white, red
Terminology
Magic circle Fsc Foundation single crochet Sc Single crochet Inc Increase Dec Decrease (use front loops only the gaps are less obvious) Hdc half double crochet Sl slip stitch Ch chain
Instructions
The cake
Use tan yarn.
Row 1 30 fsc, ch1 turn (30)
Row 2 Sc along (30)
Row 3 Dec in first two sc’s, sc until 2 stitches are left, dec in last two sc’s (28)
Row 4 Sc along (28)
Now you will repeat rows 3 and 4 until you are down to 2 sc’s in total. This will give you a triangle with 2 decreases on every other row.
At this point, we start working in rounds. So don’t break of the yarn, but continue with the same colour.
Round 1 Sc around the edge of the triangle
Round 2 BLO sc around
Rounds 3-4 Sc around
Switch to pink yarn
Rounds 5-7 Sc around
Switch to tan yarn
Rounds 8-10 Sc around
Switch to pink yarn
Rounds 11-13
Sc around
Switch to tan yarn
Rounds 14-18 Sc around. Fasten off.
Now to make the overside of the cake. For this, use the pink yarn and create the same triangle that you did for the bottom of the cake.

Now you will repeat rows 3 and 4 until you are down to 2 sc’s in total. This will give you a triangle with 2 decreases on every other row.
Stuff your cake. I cut out a piece of an old foam baby mattress. Crochet the two pieces together by crocheting sc’s all the way around through both layers. Fasten off.
Whipped cream edging
Use white yarn. Attach at one corner of row one of the pink triangle.
Row 1 5 hdc in each sc across that side, ch2, turn (150 hdc)
Row 2 3 hdc in each hdc across (450 hdc)
Fasten off.
Whipped cream puff
Use white yarn
Round 1 6 sc into a magic circle (6)
Round 2 Inc around (12)
Round 3 Sc, inc repeat - around (18)
Round 4 3 hdc in each sc (54)
Round 5 3dc in each hdc (162)
Cherry on top
Use red yarn
Round 1 6 sc into a magic circle (6)
Round 2 Inc around (12)
Round 3 Sc, inc repeat - around (18)
Rounds 4-7 Sc around (18)
Round 8 Sc, inc repeat - around (12)
(Stuff it!)
Round 9 Dec around (6)
Sew shut
Attach yarn at the top, chain 5, fasten off and hide the tail inside the chain.
Assembly
Sew the cherry on to the white whipped cream. Sew the whipped cream onto the cake.
