Filet crochet bandana

Filet crochet is my latest obsession. I started seeing so many cute designs on socials, and finally I just had to try it out myself. I even wrote a whole blog post about it 😁 So I am very honoured to invite you to try out my very first filet crochet pattern – completely free!

Filet crochet bandana

Materials

I used a superfine cotton yarn and a hook 2.5 mm Tapestry needle to sew in the ends

Terminology

Dc - double crochet Ch - chain Fsc - foundation single crochet

Instructions

I will share instructions on how to get started, how many stitches I used for each box and how to do the decreases to get the triangle shape.

If you are a seasoned filet crocheter, you are welcome to just skip to the filet crochet diagram. There is a link for the stitchfiddle diagram further down.

Getting started on the filet crochet bandana

We start the bandana from the wide end. The full width of the diagram is a total of 75 “boxes”.

My grid is built like this: dc, ch2, dc, ch2 etc. That means each box is 3 stitches wide. Filled out boxes contain 2 dc.

So to start off, make 225 fsc. If you don’t like foundation stitches, you can chain 225 and add 2 more at the end. Turn and dc across (225)

Now you start following the diagram. On each row, you need to decrease by one “box” at the start and end of the row. At the beginning of the row ch1 and turn. Sl into the first 4 stitches, ch2 and dc into the same stitch. Follow the diagram. Leave the last “box” of the row unworked.

And now it’s time to share the link for the diagram to Stitchfiddle.
