Easy top-down poncho

This poncho is the perfect project for when you want something cute and easy to make. I love it for those days where it's too warm for jackets but to cool for t-shirts.

Easy top-down poncho

Materials

I used Hobbii Winter glow yarn colour 14 (Weight: light) Orange cotton yarn (Weight: light) Hook 4.0

Terminology

Fsc Foundation single crochet Dc Double crochet Ch Chain Sl Slip stitch

Instructions

Round 1 74 fsc, sl into the first fsc to create a circle

(If you prefer, you can instead chain 74, join the chain into a circle, ch1 and sc all along the chain.)

If you want your neck narrower or wider, you can make the starting circle shorter or longer.

Round 2 Ch 2, dc around, sl into beginning chain

Round 3 Ch2, 2 dc, (2 dc, ch2, 2 dc) in next dc, 36 dc, (2 dc, ch2, 2 dc) in next dc, dc in the rest. Sl into beginning chain

Rounds 4-9 Ch2, dc in each dc. In ch2-spaces: (2 dc, ch2, 2 dc), sl into beginning chain

Round 10 Ch2, repeat (dc in next dc, ch, skip 1 dc) around. In ch2-spaces: (2 dc, ch2, 2 dc), sl into beginning chain

Rounds 11-18 Repeat round 4

Round 19 Repeat round 10

Rounds 20-27 Repeat round 4

Round 28 Repeat round 10

Rounds 29-36 Repeat round 4

Round 37 Repeat round 10

Rounds 38-45 Repeat round 4

Round 46 Repeat round 10

At this point, you can decide if you want your poncho longer than mine. If so, keep repeating rounds 38-46 until you reach your desired length and width.

Round 47 Repeat round 4

Switch to a contrast colour (I used bright orange)

Round 48 2 sc in each dc around.
